PUBLIC NOTICE: Trident Insurance Company Limited (Under Statutory Management)

The Policyholders Compensation Fund (PCF) is a State Corporation under The National Treasury, established under Section 179 of the Insurance Act (Cap. 487) and operationalized on 1^st January 2005 through Legal Notice No. 105 of 2004. PCF’s primary mandate is to provide compensation to claimants of an insurer placed under a manager appointed under Section 67C (2) or whose license has been cancelled under the Insurance Act. PCF also plays a key role in enhancing public confidence in the insurance sector by safeguarding the interests of policyholders and claimants in the event of insurer failure.

The Public is hereby notified that Trident Insurance Company Limited was placed under Statutory Management on 10^th March 2026 by the Commissioner of Insurance pursuant to Section 67C (2) of the Insurance Act (Cap. 487). PCF has been appointed as the Statutory Manager of the insurer for a period of six (6) months, effective 10^th March 2026. Following this appointment, PCF has assumed full control of the management, business, and operations of Trident Insurance Company Limited for the duration of the statutory management period.

Pursuant to Section 179 (1) and Section 179 (2A)(a) of the Insurance Act, PCF will, at an appropriate time, issue a Public Notice on the commencement of compensation to eligible policyholders and claimants in accordance with the provisions of the Insurance Act.

Further, in exercise of the powers conferred under Section 67C (10) as read together with Section 67C (11) of the Insurance Act, the Statutory Manager hereby declares a Moratorium on the payment of the insurer to its policyholders and claimants and all other creditors for a period of six (6) months, effective 10^th March 2026.
